After his father passed away, Samuel Morr came from Pennsylvania to Ashland Co., OH at the age of 19 years with his mother and other family members. He had learned the trade of gunsmith and worked as such after his marriage until 1837 when he purchased 80 acres of farmland 6 miles east of Ashland, OH. In 1851 he bought a farm of 200 acres in DeKalb Co, IN where he resided until his death in 1882. The house was a double log house. He built a flat barn in 1868 which was 76' x 40' and at the time was one of the largest barns in that section of the country. In 1870 he built a brick house on the farm, his sons making the brick for it.

Civil Office: Represented Penn's Twp., Northumberland Co., PA on a Committee of Safety for six months in 1777.
